Stainless steel probe

The probe body is made of stainless steel, offering excellent structural rigidity and strong pressure resistance, enabling it to withstand high‑velocity flow erosion and pressure fluctuations within pipelines. The smooth stainless‑steel surface minimizes scaling under favorable water quality conditions, helping to keep the electrode tip clean and extending maintenance intervals. This material exhibits good compatibility with neutral water, cooling water, and mildly corrosive media.

Applicable caliber range

Convenient installation with a graduated base

Installation Instructions

This model must be installed after the pipeline has been shut down and depressurized, with all water drained. The installation procedure is as follows: Drill a hole at the designated location on the pipeline, weld the graduated base to the outer wall of the pipe, and once the weld has cooled, insert the probe through the base until it reaches the scale mark corresponding to the pipe’s nominal diameter. Then secure the seal. Please note that this model does not support in‑service, pressurized installation; we recommend completing installation during scheduled shutdowns or during the initial laying of new pipelines.

Measurement accuracy

Provided that the straight‑pipe section requirements are met and the insertion depth is accurate, the CLD‑8028 achieves a measurement accuracy of ±1.5%. For typical applications such as industrial process control, water‑consumption monitoring, and equipment energy‑efficiency assessment, this level of accuracy suffices for most use cases.

Converter Function Configuration

The accompanying converter features a 4–20 mA analog output, a pulse output, and an RS‑485 communication interface, and supports the Modbus protocol.

Installation and Usage Highlights

The installation location should be selected in a straight pipe section with sufficient length, avoiding flow‑disturbing components such as bends and valves. The probe insertion depth must strictly follow the markings on the mounting base to ensure that the electrodes are positioned at a location representative of the average flow velocity across the pipe cross‑section. Welding of the mounting base must be performed by certified welders to guarantee a reliable, leak‑tight weld. During operation, it is recommended to periodically inspect the condition of the seals to ensure long‑term, leak‑free performance.
