Summary: The basic principle of a magnetic flowmeter is Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.

The basic principle of a magnetic flow meter is Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When a conductor moves in a magnetic field, an electromotive force is induced inside the conductor. Based on this principle, the volumetric flow rate of a conductive fluid flowing through a pipe can be measured. The direction of the conductive fluid flow is perpendicular to the direction of the electromagnetic field. An alternating magnetic field is applied to the outside of the pipe, and a pair of electrodes is installed on both sides of the inner wall of the pipe with an insulating lining. The wires connecting the two electrodes are perpendicular to the pipe axis and the magnetic field direction. When conductive liquid flows through the pipe, it cuts the magnetic lines of force, inducing an electromotive force on the two electrodes.
