Summary: We all know that explosive hazardous materials are often produced

We all know that explosive hazardous materials are often produced or used in the production process of industrial production sites. Once an explosion occurs, the consequences are unimaginable; therefore, the instruments and meters used in industrial production involve explosion-proof issues. Some special working environments and special instruments and meters have clear regulations and must have explosion-proof functions.

For example, electrical and instrumentation equipment, cable trays, cable trenches, and positive pressure ventilation explosion-proof instrument panels (boxes) in explosion-hazardous areas.

An explosion refers to a substance suddenly changing from one state to another through physical or chemical changes, releasing a large amount of energy and producing light, heat, or mechanical work. Here, we only discuss the explosion of explosive mixtures, that is, the explosion when all flammable gases, vapors, and dusts form explosive mixtures with air.

Three necessary conditions for an explosion:

  1. Explosive substance: Substances that can react with oxygen (air), including gases, liquids, and solids. (Gases: hydrogen, acetylene, methane, etc.; Liquids: alcohol, gasoline; Solids: dust, fiber dust, etc.)

Many production sites produce certain flammable substances. About two-thirds of the sites in coal mines have explosive substances; in the chemical industry, explosive substances exist in more than 80% of the production workshop areas.

  2. Air or oxygen. The oxygen in the air is ubiquitous.

  3. Ignition source: including open flames, electric sparks, mechanical sparks, static sparks, high temperatures, chemical reactions, and light energy

A large number of electrical instruments are used in the production process, and various frictional electric sparks, mechanical wear sparks, static sparks, and high temperatures are inevitable, especially when instruments and electrical equipment malfunction.

Objectively speaking, many industrial sites meet the conditions for an explosion. When the mixed concentration of explosive substances and oxygen is within the explosion limit, if there is an explosion source, an explosion will occur immediately, so explosion protection is necessary.
